Widener University, one of the nation's premier universities for civic engagement and applied leadership, in partnership with WCAU-TV NBC10, today announced the winners of the Widener University High School Leadership Awards. In its fifth year, the program recognized 159 students from high schools in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware who demonstrated courage and leadership within their communities.

Widener University has received a 2015 Catalyst Fund from the Barra Foundation to support a Boundaries and Bridges initiative, which aims to strengthen and support arts collaboration in the city of Chester and realize the planned Culture and Arts Corridor from Widener University to Chester's City Hall.

After unveiling on Monday his portrait painted by world-renowned artist Nelson Shanks, former Widener University President James T. Harris III quipped that 300 years from now, the painting would be hanging in a gallery somewhere with the title, "Man in a Blue Gown."
