Widener University’s online degree programs are designed to help students balance their education, their current career, and life’s other responsibilities. Widener’s offerings provide an academically robust curriculum by facilitated peer interaction and the same support and distinguished faculty that on-campus students enjoy.
Online programs at Widener focus on developing specialized skills in growing areas of demand and include a master of business administration (MBA), a master of social work (MSW), and a bachelor of science in nursing (RN-BSN).
An online MBA from Widener helps students take their careers to the next level with a general track or concentrations in two growing areas: business process innovation and health care management. Courses are taught by professors who are also experienced business leaders, to ensure an engaging learning experience that helps develop creative business strategies, competitive problem solving, leadership, and a well-rounded understanding of management and social responsibility.
Civic engagement and service to the community are central to Widener’s mission. The online master of social work prepares graduates to improve lives through clinical social work and social justice. This includes an understanding of mental health, substance abuse, and other social-emotional issues. The program’s diverse faculty provides a comprehensive understanding of assessment skills, policy, critical thinking, and informed practice for careers in counseling, therapy, and social work.
On an undergraduate level, students with a health care focus can grow as a registered nurse with an RN-BSN degree. Building on students’ existing strengths, this program adds skills in critical thinking, leadership, health care policy, and more to prepare graduates for decision-making, patient and family assessments, and quality nursing care.
“In the past, you’ve had to come to campus to take advantage of all that Widener has to offer,” Associate Provost Sue Greenberg said. “Now we are offering programs online so that you can advance your career from anyplace that you choose.”
