"Senior Prom", April 2008

The freshmen Presidential Service Corps members jitter bugged into the hearts of area seniors as organizers of the inaugural Senior Prom. As the freshmen class service project, the “Nifty Fifties” dance in Lathem Hall featured retro décor and jukebox tunes. “The seniors definitely had a great time with one another and with us,” said freshman Rod Colon. “The look on their faces was priceless and made all the planning and decorating well worth it.”
The Presidential Service Corps is comprised of 40 students who are among the highest achieving students on campus. In addition to having high SAT scores and stellar grade point averages, each member has demonstrated a commitment to community service and has taken on leadership roles. "Our Presidential Service Corps members are Widener ambassadors,” said Presidential Service Corps Director and Executive Director of the Office of the President Cecilia McCormick. “Not only do they serve as tour guides through the Office of Admissions, but they champion service efforts on campus and beyond.”

Bolivia Project, January 2007

Several Presidential Service Corps members and Widener staff traveled to Bolivia in January 2007 to assist in building a new school for local residents. In addition to performing service during their twelve-day stay, each participant was able to learn more about the culture and people that make the region so unique. Visit the PSC Highlights page to view photos and a powerpoint presentation from the trip.
Widener Staff: PSC members were accompanied by Dr. Harris (Widener President), Professor Urraca (Spanish Department), and Professor Ledoux (Center for Education).

"The best memory of PSC so far this year would be seeing Colin Powell at the Philadelphia Speaker Series. He was an amazing speaker and I enjoyed his insights and opinions."
