Dorm Networking

All dorm housing is integrated into the Widener University network.  Students can access both hard wired ports and the wireless network. The Dorm Network is monitored and controlled through a solution called Campus Manager. This provides enhanced security on the network, ensuring a safe, secure and reliable connection for the Widener network.

Campus Manager helps solve important network issues, such as: blocking unregistered users, enforcing network policies, controlling network access, as well as, overall client device management.

Each semester, when residential students try to access the Widener Network with their computer or peripheral devices, Campus Manager scans the computer to ensure that it is free of viruses and has all the necessary Microsoft updates installed.

A student’s computer must pass this scan to gain access to the University’s network. If the computer fails, step-by-step instructions are available to initiate the changes necessary to access the network successfully. Students can also visit the Student Technology Support Center for assistance
