University Advancement includes an integrated team that is responsible for all the marketing and communication efforts of the university, as well as public relations, brand management, alumni outreach, annual giving, campaign fund raising, and obtaining donations from corporations, foundations, and private organizations. Together, the different units support Widener’s vision to become a leading metropolitan university.
The Office of University Advancement consists of the following departments:
Alumni engagement provides outreach and community-building services to 58,000 alumni of Widener University and its predecessor institutions (Widener College, PMC Colleges, and Pennsylvania Military College). The office staff supports the operations of the Widener-PMC Alumni Association and its governing body, the Alumni Council.
Development secures private financial resources to support the progress of the university and enhance excellence in education for the university's students. Through established relationships with alumni and friends, corporations, foundations, and organizations, Development plays a strategic role in elevating Widener to be one of the nation's premier metropolitan universities.
Development and Alumni, School of Law
Widener University's School of Law raises funds for annual, capital, and endowment needs. The office fosters special relationships between Widener Law and its constituents, particularly alumni.
The Office of Government Relations serves as the primary liaison with the federal, state, and local governments. The Office cultivates and sustains relationships with legislative and executive branch officials and their offices in support of strategic institutional initiatives and priority projects.
University Relations manages internal and external communications to enhance the university’s image and increase its visibility. University Relations controls the university brand, its application and policy; public relations; all marketing and advertising; all university publications; the website; and special events.
