Widener Leadership
We know that character, courage, and competency are the marks of a true leader.
We’re proud to have an executive team and board members that exemplify those qualities.
Since his arrival at Widener in 2002, Widener University President James T. Harris III and his executive team have been instrumental in reinvigorating Widener's mission, and are committed to demonstrating Widener's commitment to leadership and service through their own example.
Learning to Serve
A recipient of the 2011 Chief Executive Leadership Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District 11, among other honors, President Harris frequently joins students on community service projects. Each year he participates in the university’s Alternative Spring Break. Once a year, he trades places with a student and fulfills the student's campus responsibilities, including attending classes, while the student becomes President for a Day.
Planning for Success
Thanks to a comprehensive, inclusive planning process, Widener has a strategic plan outlining its goals through 2015. And with the Campaign for Widener, we have a game plan for making those goals a reality. In fact, with our updated state-of-the-art facilities in our engineering building, which includes Widener's Observatory, and Founders Hall, which houses our School of Nursing as well as the Oskin Leadership Institute, we are well on our way to becoming a leading metropolitan university.
