Every industry looks for a qualified leader. Why not stand out amongst the pack?

The Oskin Leadership Institute provides various academic opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills, one being a certificate in leadership. Leadership certificates are an ideal option for students interested in uncovering their leadership potential and building upon a variety of professional skill sets.

Certificate Requirements

To qualify for a leadership certificate, students participate in 18 one-hour interactive, leadership-focused workshops led by Widener faculty and staff.

Before completing the certification program, students are asked to create their own concise, meaningful leadership philosophy statement (28 characters or less) that embodies the kind of leader they want to become. Students present and explain their leadership philosophy at a ceremony where they receive their certificate.

The leadership certification program was designed to be completed in two years.

Leadership Workshops

Students can register for a leadership workshop through CampusCruiser as they would for any class. Workshop topics include ethical fitness, personal courage, leadership myths and stereotypes, leading groups, decision making, and peer leadership, among others. After each workshop, students submit a short reflection online.
