WORK STUDY & STUDENT EMPLOYMENT

Federal Work Study
Federal Work Study is the opportunity to earn funds through employment and is awarded as part of the aid package of students who have demonstrated financial need. Students who meet Widener University’s March 1 filing deadline are given priority.

Under this program, students work for the university. Community service positions (e.g. jobs as a teacher’s aide, tutor, or library service aid) are also available. Employment is not guaranteed.

Students may work up to 15 hours per week during any week in which classes are held and up to 40 hours per week during vacation periods. Students are paid biweekly at a rate of at least the current minimum wage. Actual earnings will depend on the number of hours worked and the wage rate, but may not exceed the maximum eligibility amount determined by the Office of Student Financial Services.

Those interested in currently available community service positions should contact the Office of Student Financial Services.

Institutional Employment
Though priority for job placement is given to students with federal work-study eligibility, university employment may also be available to those who are not eligible. Students are paid biweekly at a rate of at least the current minimum wage.

A listing of student jobs is available each semester under News on Campus Cruiser.
