Anthropology Major

Do you seek to understand human origins and society? Are you interested in pursuing graduate school in medicine, physical therapy, anatomy, law or forensic investigation? Are you drawn to a career in business or international economic development via a social science path? If yes, Widener’s anthropology major can be ideal for achieving your educational and career goals.

Anthropology develops a broad understanding of how humans globally and throughout history have adapted to the natural world with systems of cultural belief, behavior, and attitude, social organization, and genetic variation.

Why study anthropology at Widener University?

• The program emphasizes the study and interrelation of four fields: ethnography (contemporaneous cultures); archaeology, (cultural evolution); linguistics (language and culture); and biological anthropology (biological origins and the relation of biological factors and cultural behavior).

• You can tailor your program to fit your individual education and career goals, emphasizing cultural studies, including the selection of a minor in another discipline. Common minors and certificate programs pursued by anthropology majors include criminal justice, early childhood or elementary education certificates, economics, environmental science, government and politics, international business, pre-physical therapy, management, international relations, psychology, pre-med, and sociology.

Develop your desire to understand humanity into an anthropology major at Widener.
