Biology Major

- Are you interested in going to medical, dental, physical therapy or graduate school?
- Do you want a career as an educator or as a scientist?

If yes, then the biology major at Widener is an ideal place to begin.

Why major in biology at Widener University?

• Biology is the largest major in the Science Division, with eleven accessible and supportive faculty members focusing on your academic and professional success. Biology students develop meaningful mentoring relationships with faculty both in and outside of the classroom, and engage directly in productive scholarship.

• Biology majors have two tracks to choose from that build a foundation for numerous career and post-graduate study options. A bachelor of arts in biology is ideal if you have an interest in cross-disciplinary graduate programs and careers such as genetic counseling, law, technical writing and management in the biomedical sciences. A bachelor of science in biology is a traditional biology degree program that prepares students for graduate study in the biological sciences and for admission to medical school.

• Many of our students coauthor peer-reviewed articles with faculty members that appear in nationally and internationally recognized biology journals. You will be provided with research opportunities on and off campus.

We invite you to come to campus and meet with our faculty members and students. Experience the excitement that is the biology major at Widener.
