Why Widener?
Widener's AACSB accredited program provides information professionals with the skills they need to for a successful financial planning career. The classes are taught by full-time faculty along with selected practitioner experts and provide students with a practical look at all the topics required for comprehensive financial planning. Our program goes beyond the topics required for the CFP® exam to give practitioners the tools and techniques they will need to successfully deal with both individual and business clients.
Special Features
The Master of Science in Taxation and Financial Planning is registered with Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. (CFP Board). As a CFP Board-Registered Program, our courses satisfy CFP Board's education requirement, allowing an individual to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination. In addition, Widener is the home of the Journal of Financial Service Professionals. This 60 year old journal is a member benefit of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, one of the oldest and largest financial planning organizations in the world.
Criteria for Admission
Holders of the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor's degree are invited to apply to the Master of Business Administration program. A complete application contains:
> Official Transcripts from all Colleges/Universities attended
> Official GMAT or GRE results or evidence of CPA license or other approved designation
> Two letters of recommendation
> Completed application form
> Official TOEFL score and international transcript evaluation (if required)
Program Completion
Full-time students can complete the program in 16 months. Part-time students can complete the program in 18 months. Additional time may be needed for pre-requisite courses.
Widener University does not certify individuals to use the CFR., Certified Financial Planner's and federally registered CFP(with flame logo) codification marks. CFP certifications granted only by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. to those persons who, in addition to completing an educational requirement such as this CFP Board-Registered Program, have met its ethics, experience and examination requirements. Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns certification marks CFP ID, Certified Financial Planner and federally registered CFP(with flame logo), which it awards to individuals who successfully complete total and ongoing certification requirements
