Co-op/ Experiential Learning

What is it?

150 yearsExperiential learning is learning by doing. It is hands-on activity that helps connect classroom theory to "real world" experience. Because it addresses the needs and wants of the learner, it is a highly effective means of gaining valuable experience. Included under the umbrella of Experiential Learning in the School of Engineering, are cooperative education, internships, service learning, undergraduate research, study abroad, volunteer service and leadership through student organizations.

Why is it important to me?
  • Test the waters by exploring occupations related to majors and/ or career interests
  • Develop skills important to employers or graduate schools
  • Interact with professionals in order to learn from them and begin building a network
  • Build a marketable resume or portfolio
