Dual Degrees

Dual Degrees

The Center for Social Work Education and the Center for Education offer a dual degree program that ends with a Master of Social Work and either a Master's or Doctoral degree in Human Sexuality. This program is most appropriate for students seeking enhanced knowledge, skills and credentials for providing counseling, education, and training in the field of human sexuality. Students pursuing the dual degrees take courses in both programs concurrently.   Students will earn their MSW after three years of concurrent study, and can earn the PhD with two additional years of course work and one year of dissertation preparation. For those entering the program with a Bachelor of Social Work, an Advanced Standing MSW program option is also available.

Application to the Dual Degree Programs may be made by selecting the appropriate dual degree option from the drop-down box on the Center for Education’s on-line application.

Applicants to the Dual Degree Programs must address their readiness for a career in Social Work and their commitment to the profession.  Your Goals Statement and Autobiographical Essay should reflect this readiness and commitment. See essay guidelines below.

Admission decisions will be made by the Admissions Committees of each school respectively. It is therefore possible to be accepted by one program and not accepted into the other. Applicants not accepted for admission to both programs at the same time may pursue the degree program into which they have been accepted and re-apply for admission to the other program at a later time.

Admission to the Center for Social Work Education is for fall only. There is no Spring Admission option.
