Our academic programs have strong regional and national reputations. For example, according to a National League for Nursing report, Widener’s doctoral nursing program is one of only two schools in the nation that prepares nurse educators. Widener’s School of Hospitality Management is ranked in the top 20 national hospitality management programs.

The diversity of programs offered in the College of Arts and Sciences is what you might expect to find at larger universities. You can choose from among twenty-five majors in the humanities, sciences, and social sciences. The 25 available minors include 8 certificates and teacher certification. Pre-Law and Pre-Medicine advisors help students in a variety of majors prepare for law school or medical school. All of the College's classes are taught by faculty who have advanced degrees in their fields, either their Ph.D. or their Masters.

The School of Hospitality Management has been designated one of the top 20 of 200 programs in the country, and healthcare experts cite the School of Nursing as one of the best in the Mid-Atlantic region. The School of Human Service Professions aspires to prepare individuals to become innovative scholars-practitioners-citizens. The School of Business Administration is accredited by AACSB, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.  This professional accreditation places Widener among the top one third of college business schools in the U.S. and Europe.

Widener's School of Engineering offers current up to date programs such as the Land Development and Mobile Computing certificates for students that want to sample the programs.

Since 1954, University College has helped thousands of adults reach their potential by offering degree and certificate programs in a format that best works for them.

Career Preparation Is Key
Internships, experential learning,
community involvement – it's all part of the Widener experience. You'll find many opportunities for career preparation through extensive career counseling, co-op experiences, student research, practicum placements, and service learning.

Widener's Cooperative Education Program, for example, enables students in certain majors to gain one year of paid work experience without extending their graduation date beyond the traditional four years. The results of this hands-on approach are strong -- within six months of graduation, more than 90 percent of graduating seniors find full-time employment or are in graduate school.
