REQUIREMENTS

Course Work

All students must complete at least five courses in the program. One of the five must be a Colloquium (advanced-level seminar).  Honors courses change every semester and cover a wide range of topics.

Out-of-Class Events

Students must complete eight out-of-class events over the course of each academic year they are in the program.  The program publishes a calendar of events each semester, and continually adds new events on its website. These events include a wide variety of cultural and academic activities on campus.

Honors Week March 9 - March 14, 2008

It is up to the students to decide which events they wish to attend; however, all students must participate in Honors Week, a campus-wide celebration of academic excellence; review the agendas for 2008 Honors Week and student presentations.

The program also makes available discounted tickets for the Walnut Street Theatre, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and the Opera Company of Philadelphia; students can attend these performances and receive out-of-class enrichment credit.

Grade Point Average

Students must have a 3.25 GPA or better at the time of graduation to complete the requirements for the program.

Certificates

Students earn either a Certificate of Honors in General Education, or can earn a Certificate of Advanced Honors in General Education if they complete an additional Colloquium or an Honors Independent Study in some area of General Education.
