Graduate Certificate in Non-profit Leadership

The non-profit leadership certificate is directed at developing leadership, citizenship, communication, and civic engagement skills appropriate to the non-profit sector. The certificate is grounded in the emphasis on connecting curricula to societal issues through civic engagement. Each of the four courses covers, to varying degrees, effective organizational management, leadership, communication, and civic engagement. Additionally, each course incorporates elements of direct community engagement.

This certificate is designed for students who anticipate a career in the non-profit sector and/or students who are interested in pursuing a master’s degree in public administration but would like to explore post-graduate education through certificate courses. Indeed, many students come to our program already working in the non-profit sector and are looking to improve their effectiveness.

The non-profit sector is highly diverse and growing in scope. We have had students representing a large number of differing interests and we would expect that to continue. The graduate skilled in leadership, civic engagement, and communication will likely have great opportunities for employment and promotion in his or her chosen field.
