Culture CD Cover John Vanore & the Abstract Truth

Composer, trumpeter, producer, John Vanore has received critical acclaim for the recordings of Abstract Truth, a twelve-piece jazz group led by Vanore.

Recorded in Philadlephia in June 2012 and released on February 19, 2013, Culture, is the band's fourth CD. A leader in the movement in jazz that is redefining the big band, Culture represents an original point of view where the solo voice is prominent.

Abstract Truth's 1990 release Blue Route, was selected as one of the top ten jazz albums of the year by CD Review Magazine. Along with Blue Route, the group's second release, Curiosity, placed high in the Downbeat Readers’ Poll in the categories of:  Album of the year, Big Band, and Composer. The band's third CD, Contagious Words, has been praised by Greg Simmons of All About Jazz as "...a strong example of what a thoroughly modern large jazz ensemble can accomplish: great music with fascinating arrangements and first-rate individual performances."
