Curriculum, Digital Media Informatics
The purpose of the digital media informatics major is to ensure graduates gain knowledge in communications, computers, and information systems so that they attain key competencies and an appreciation of the depth of the field.
The program is designed to give students broad knowledge and flexibility in choosing a specialized focus that can be adapted to the changing job market and social environment. Therefore, in addition to core courses in digital media informatics, students pursue a specialized concentration that includes related courses that meet their interests and needs.
Finally, digital media informatics students take part in a two-semester digital media informatics capstone experience during their senior year.
Students can choose classes from four specialized concentrations:
This concentration focuses on broadcast media. Students gain skills in television, radio and film production, including visual effects and digital editing.
Graphics, Mobile, & Web Development
This concentration focuses on graphics and Web design and mobile app development. Students become proficient in critical aspects of interactive multimedia design and production.
Gaming & Artificial Intelligence
This concentration focuses on various aspects of game and computer graphic design. Students gain skills in designing software that is capable of intelligent behavior.
This concentration focuses on integrative studies of creative writing and information technology. Students gain skills in multimedia, technical and broadcast news writing, which open up career opportunities in the digital content writing field.
Students choose one concentration and complete four courses from the selected concentration. They also complete two additional courses from any concentration.
