My Widener Experience
why did you decide to major in biology?
I knew I wanted to study medicine, so deciding to major in biology was easy because of my interest in medicine and science.
what is your favorite memory of widener?
I fondly recall spending loads of time doing research in the biology department. All my professors were kind to me and treated me like family. I did research with Dr. Weaver, Dr. Vatnick, Dr. Brodkin, and Dr. Madigosky. Dr. Coughlin was one of my best teachers as well.
My Professional Experience
how has widener prepared you for life after college?
The faculty members in the College of Arts and Sciences were really involved in research and encouraged regional and national presentation of projects. My participation in research at Widener has been invaluable in preparing me for the research I have since been involved with and with public speaking/presentations.
what advice would you give a prospective student considering your major?
Find something you really enjoy and are good at and invest in it; distinguish yourself at something. You don't have to be a science major. Definitely explore your other interests but realize most of your pre-med requirements are science-based; try to enjoy them.
