Alumni Spotlight: Douglas H. Shultz '10
My Widener Experience
why did you decide to major in environmental science?
I always was passionate about science and the outdoors. The environmental science program seemed like a great fit for me.
if you were to do your college experience at widener again, what wouldn't you change?
I would not change how involved I was at Widener. I was very busy, but it was all worth it.
My Professional Experience
what do you like most about your current position?
What is great about my current position is that it is a service-based profession that is in line with my education and personal interests. Furthermore, I get to do a lot of unusual, unique things that I would not do in any other job.
what advice would you give a prospective student considering your major?
Become involved in undergraduate research projects, service-learning initiatives, and consider being a resident assistant. Each of those things will provide you with additional experiences and skills that will not only be favorable memories but also will make you a more competitive applicant.
