Secondary Education (7–12)
The secondary education program at Widener University offers students the opportunity to major in a specific subject in the College of Arts and Sciences while also becoming certified to teach grades 7-12.
Certification is available in the following fields:
- Earth and space science
- Social Studies (Anthropology, Economics, History, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology)
The Center for Education at Widener is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), www.ncate.org. This accreditation covers initial teacher preparation programs and advanced educator preparation programs at Widener’s Main Campus and online programs. However, the accreditation does not include individual education courses that the institution offers to P–12 educators for professional development, relicensure, or other purposes.
