Scholarship Opportunities, Engineering
Widener University’s School of Engineering offers multiple scholarship opportunities for prospective undergraduate and graduate students interested in pursuing an engineering career. These scholarships are based solely on academic merit.
The School of Engineering awards brand new laptops to students who meet the following criteria:
Eligible students must graduate from high school in spring 2019 with a combined math and critical reading SAT score of 1310 or higher or ACT composite score of 28 or higher with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale). Students may also transfer with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better (on a 4.0 scale) and complete one calculus and one science course approved for engineering.
Eligible students must enroll in one of Widener’s engineering majors – biomedical, chemical, civil, electrical, or mechanical – in fall 2019 [or spring 2020 for transfers only] and will remain enrolled as a full-time student for at least four semesters pursuing a designated engineering curriculum.
Students who meet the following criteria are guaranteed a laptop! A Widener application for admission is required. No separate application for a laptop is required.
In addition to the School of Engineering’s Laptop Scholarship, Widener University awards a number of other scholarships to academically talented undergraduate students.
Accelerated BS/MSE Scholarship
The School of Engineering offers generous graduate scholarship for academically outstanding engineering students who enroll full-time in the Accelerated BS/Master of Science in Engineering Program immediately following the completion of their bachelor's degree at Widener University.
To qualify for the graduate scholarship, Widener UG students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher at the end of the freshmen year, and a semester GPA of 3.00 or higher for each subsequent semester. Transfer students must have a cum GPA of 3.25 or higher from a 4-year university or a cum GPA of 3.5 or higher from a community college at matriculation.
Students are encouraged to apply for conditional admission to the Accelerated BS/MSE program with graduate scholarship at any time after the second semester at Widener for freshmen or after the first semester for transfer students.
The Anniversary Scholarship Fund was created during the school’s 150th Anniversary celebration to continue the long history of excellence in engineering education at Widener by supporting merit-based graduate scholarships for engineering students. The fund began with contributions from the School of Engineering faculty and staff, and has grown with contributions from alumni and friends of the school.
