Scholarship Opportunities, Engineering
Widener University’s School of Engineering contains two very important scholarship opportunities for prospective students interested in pursuing an engineering career.
The Anniversary Scholarship Fund and the Laptop Scholarship are awarded to a number of academically talented students solely on the basis of merit.
The Anniversary Scholarship Fund was created during the school’s 150th Anniversary celebration to continue the long history of excellence in engineering education at Widener by supporting merit-based graduate scholarships for engineering students. The fund began with contributions from the School of Engineering faculty and staff and has grown with contributions from alumni and friends of the school.
The School of Engineering awards brand new laptops to students who meet the following criteria:
Eligible students must graduate from high school in spring 2016 with a combined math and critical reading SAT score of 1250 or higher or ACT composite score of 28 or higher with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale). Students may also transfer with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better (on a 4.0 scale) and complete one calculus and one science course approved for engineering.
Eligible students must enroll in one of Widener’s engineering majors – biomedical, chemical, civil, electrical, or mechanical – in fall 2016 [or spring 2017 for transfers only] and will remain enrolled as a full-time student for at least four semesters pursuing a designated engineering curriculum.
Students who meet the following criteria are guaranteed a laptop! A Widener application for admission is required. Just fill out the form online. No separate application for a laptop is required.
In addition to the School of Engineering’s Anniversary Scholarship Fund and Laptop Scholarship, Widener University awards a number of other scholarships to academically talented students.
