Co-ops & Internships, Chemical Engineering

At Widener, an undergraduate chemical engineering student can take advantage of the cooperative education program and still graduate in four years. Co-ops and internships allow students to gain valuable, real-world practical experience in their engineering discipline, while earning a salary. In addition, students have the opportunity to receive full-time employment from their co-op or internship employers upon graduation.

Students not only develop their engineering and technology skills, but they also learn firsthand what chemical engineering involves in practice. This allows them to make a more informed decision when it comes to choosing one of the many career paths that chemical engineering has to offer. Due to our location in the Greater Philadelphia area and our connections with industry experts, Widener has relationships with the following companies:

  • Airgas
  • AstraZeneca
  • Exelon
  • Merck
  • Sunoco
  • W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc.

"My co-op at Quadrant EPP has provided me with an excellent opportunity to learn about working in a manufacturing environment. It has been an amazing experience to take what I have learned in the classroom and apply it to more specific applications, such as producing advanced engineering plastics. The technical and teamwork skills I have acquired during this co-op will remain with me far beyond my classroom experience and well into my career."
