Mechanical Engineering

Dual Majors

Mechanical engineering students can pursue a minor in other engineering disciplines, such as biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or environmental engineering or with other programs, such as mathematics, business, political science, and many more. In addition, double majors with other engineering disciplines as well as a dual degree with physics are available for academically qualified students.

Personal Interaction with Faculty

Mechanical engineering faculty members are a dedicated group of teachers and advisors whose top priority is undergraduate education. Students' overall learning experience at Widener is enhanced when they are comfortable approaching faculty members for guidance, whether on course-related issues, career advice, or anything else. We take great pride in the strong relationship that develops between student and teacher over the course of a student’s time at Widener.

Practical, Hands-on Curriculum

The mechanical engineering program is supported by a curriculum designed by the faculty to give students the ability to solve practical engineering problems. Although are program prepares students for success in high-quality master’s and PhD programs, they also have the ability to make immediate contributions to their employer. In fact, our program has an excellent reputation with local employers as one which trains students who are adept at problem solving and project work.

Year of graduation

While at Widener I learned how to think critically and use the fundamentals of engineering to later develop prosthetic devices for our nation's injured service members. The research I conduct for these wonder warriors can be traced back to my acceptance letter from Widener University.
