Co-ops & Internships, Mechanical Engineering

At Widener, an undergraduate mechanical engineering student can take advantage of the cooperative education program and still graduate in four years. Co-ops and internships allow students to gain valuable, real-world practical experience in their engineering discipline, while earning a salary. In addition, students have the opportunity to receive full-time employment from their co-op or internship employers upon graduation.

"My co-op experiences with Drake Refrigeration and Kellogg’s were extremely beneficial and rewarding by taking my classroom experience and applying it in a real-world setting. Through this experience, it reassured my passion for engineering and developed my skills such as networking, management, and design process and development to move forward in my career. These co-ops prepared me for what is to come after I graduate."

"My co-op experience at Schramm Incorporated was very rewarding. I was able to work alongside engineers in the design of fixtures that aided in the manufacturing process of their drilling rigs. This hands-on experience helped me better visualize and comprehend concepts taught in my engineering classes."
