Joy Dickerson, EdD, CHE

Dr. Joy Dickerson is the Director of the Cooperation Education program for Hospitality Management students at Widener University. She was recently named the 2012 Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching recipient. She earned her B.S. degree from the Pennsylvania State University in Hospitality Management, her M.S. from Widener University in Human Resource Management, and her Doctor of Education degree from Wilmington University.
Upon graduation from Penn State, Joy entered the food services sector of the hospitality industry and worked in management positions in healthcare, tourism, catering, and business and industry.
Joy has taught courses in food production, human resources management, hospitality training and development, and leadership development. She has also conducted and coordinated a variety of industry seminars in both applied food safety and supervisory skillbuilding. Her research interests include such topics as experiential learning, cooperative education, human resources, and service learning.
She has presented research on experiential learning models in hospitality education. Dr. Dickerson is President of the North East North American Federation for the International Council of Hotel, Resturant, and Institutional Edcators, is a member of the International Council of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Educators, and a member of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Professional Convention Management Association. She is the Advisor for Widener University's National Association for Catering and Events.
