Co-op Requirements

To enroll in co-op, a student must have completed the following:

  • 75 credit hours of study
  • Two 400-hour internships that have been documented and approved
  • Course prerequisites (HM 203, HM 207)
  • A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0

The semester before a student is enrolled in co-op, the student must:

  • Have advisor complete a Prerequisite Fulfillment Form (PDF, 11Kb)
  • Attend the orientation meeting
  • Fill out application (PDF, 13Kb) to indicate the intent to enroll in co-op
  • Meet with director of co-op to determine employment path
  • Sign up for CAPSnet
  • Complete and deliver an approved resume to co-op director
  • Participate in a minimum of three interviews before accepting a position

Two weeks before the semester begins, the student should have:

  • Secured a position for the semester
  • Completed and delivered the Job Registration Form (PDF, 7Kb)
  • Completed and delivered the Notice of Employment Form (PDF, 15Kb)

Once the semester begins, the student is expected to:

  • Document a 37.5 to 50-hour work week for 16 consecutive weeks (must work for ONE employer for 16 weeks)
  • Attend class one designated day per week (6 hours)
  • Complete all required homework assignments, readings, and projects
