Post-Master's Certificates in Nursing

If you have a master's degree in nursing and are interested in pursuing study in another nursing area, you should consider a post-master's certificate.

Widener's School of Nursing offers several options of post-master’s education. Depending on area of study, certificates can be completed in 18 to 24 months of part-time study.

Post-master's certificates are available for these options:

Students must complete a minimum of 500 hours (CNS) or 672 hours (FNP) of faculty-supervised advanced clinical practice to meet the APRN regulatory model requirements.

Courses are available on Widener's Main campus in Chester and on Widener's Harrisburg campus (APRN options only). Graduates are prepared to sit for certification examination through either the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) for the CNS role and either the ANCC or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) for the FNP role.

Post-master's certificate programs are available on our Main Campus in Chester, Pennsylvania as well as our Central PA campus in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and is taught as a hybrid combining both online and in-person coursework.
