The Widener University School of Nursing is proud to share our accomplishments with the community.
- In September 2013, we were designated as an NLN Center of Excellence for Advancing the Science of Nursing Education. We are preparing our redesignation application for May 2017.
- Widener University School of Nursing is a funded partner in the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Graduate Nursing Education Demonstration Project with Penn Medicine. This demonstration has resulted in a significant increase in our clinical agency affiliation opportunities.
- Responding to the Chester community health needs, the School of Nursing started the
Widener Community Nursing Clinic, which opened in partnership with Cityteam in the
fall of 2011.
Widener University Faculty Awards
Each May, Widener University honors teaching innovation, outstanding research, and civic engagement at the annual Faculty Awards Banquet. Leaders in higher education external to the university review the applications for these awards.
Dr. Normajean Colby, assistant professor and coordinator of pediatric nursing in the School of Nursing, received the 2015 Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching. The Lindback Award is given to a faculty member who has demonstrated a history of teaching at the highest level. It is endowed by the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation, a Philadelphia-based foundation that provides grants to institutions of higher education for the promotion of excellence in teaching.
