SAS Joint Certificate

Employers need professionals who can work with and make sense of big data, which includes data preparation and visualization, applying proper statistical methods, and communicating findings clearly. SAS is the leading software package used by industry for advanced analytics, and SAS skills are also in high demand.

In 2016, Widener’s undergraduate program in business analytics became one of the first in the nation to be recognized for its rigor by the SAS Institute.

Course Requirements

Students are eligible for the SAS Joint Certificate pending successful completion of the following four courses:

  • QA 251 (Elementary Statistical Analysis)
  • MIS 290 (Management Information Systems)
  • MIS 358 (Database Management)
  • MIS 370 (Business Analytics)

Because QA 251 and MIS 290 are part of the School of Business Administration’s core curriculum, all business students can obtain the SAS Joint Certificate by taking MIS 358 and MIS 370.

How the SAS Joint Certificate Helps You

Business produces more and more data every day, but there is a severe shortage of professionals who can work with and properly analyze big data. Because SAS is the leading vendor of analytics software, having skills with SAS is a huge plus as well. This certificate signifies that SAS has approved the skills you’ve learned at Widener, and means that you are ready to meet the challenges of an exciting career in big data and analytics.
