Graduate Business Association
The Graduate Business Association (GBA) is a student organization that was formed in 1992 to assist in the career development of graduate students, to foster a sense of community at Widener, and to provide charitable services to the community.
In prior years, the GBA has raised money for VE Global, an organization that assists abused children in Chile, and for the Chester Youth Collaborative Fund. Sweatshirt sales were used to raise funds. This year, the GBA has been asked to assist UPS and Campbell Soup in their food drive.
Networking Activities & Opportunities for Public Service
The GBA usually works with the Career Advising & Planning Services (CAPS) to help students find good jobs. The GBA sponsors speakers and events that allow students to network with others in similar industries. If students participate in at least three events per year including charitable activities, the organization will send a letter of thanks and recognition to their employers for their public service.
This spring semester, the GBA has been asked to host a networking event with local businesses. Jessica Hoopes, Assistant Dean, Relationship Development will help organize this event.
Activities Pertaining to Sustainability
In the past the GBA, has done some fundraising for Clean Water Action, an organization devoted to clean water in Pennsylvania. The GBA plans to continue its support of sustainability efforts in the community.
If you are interested in joining or lending your support to the GBA, please email one or both of our GBA officers as follows: President: Vy To or Vice President Mingze Liu (Grad Office GA). Our faculty advisor is Dr. Sandy Miller.
We invite your participation in the Association as either a member or officer, and we welcome your ideas and support for the development of GBA projects.
