Alumni Spotlight: Brian James McCann '00
Certified Public Accountant
My Widener Experience
why did you decide to major in accounting?
I chose business administration with a focus in accounting because it provided me the opportunity to achieve a well-rounded business course load but gave me the ability to focus deeper on a more specialized nuance of business that interested me (i.e., accounting).
what clubs or organizations were you involved in that made a memorable impression?
I was involved in the co-op program and the Theta Chi Fraternity; I was also a resident assistant. Those experiences afforded me opportunities to take on leadership roles that helped me develop my current leadership style.
My Professional Experience
what do you like most about your current position?
I am lucky to be in a position where I work with a remarkable team. On a daily basis I get to interact with dynamic individuals who are dedicated to helping one another succeed. A good team makes all the difference.
what advice would you give a prospective student considering your major?
Do not take the time that you currently have to learn a new skill set for granted. Listen to the advice of your professors and soak up as much information as you can in your field of study. You may never have this opportunity again, so make the most of it.
