Co-ops & Internships, Economics

In today’s highly competitive job market, students who obtain real-world, career-related experience greatly enhance their employment opportunities upon graduation. That’s why we encourage our students to connect with our alumni and industry partners to establish co-ops and internships.

Many economics students also use the co-op or internship experience to learn about the wide range of economics jobs so that they can make informed decisions concerning the career path they wish to pursue.

Hear from a recent Widener economics student about his experience in an internship.

As an intern at Devon Financial Partners, I learned what it takes to be successful in the financial services industry. I've had opportunities to speak with experienced agents and also those who are new to the industry. I’ve learned that great success is attainable through hard work. I’ve also gained experience in everything from recruiting to market research. I have been offered a seat at the table at meetings involving many aspects of the business. I now understand the many tools used to prospect new clients and also make presentations to existing ones.
