Since its founding in 1981, the Center for Hospitality Management has been preparing future leaders for the dynamic global hospitality industry. The academic rigor of our curriculum, award-winning cooperative education program, nationally recognized faculty, and state-of-the-art facilities combine to make the school a center of excellence in hospitality management education.

Graduates are well prepared to succeed in a wide range of industry segments, including hotels, resorts, country clubs, restaurants, sport stadiums, food service management companies, and allied industries.

Our mission is to develop civically engaged leaders for the global hospitality industry through an emphasis on experiential learning. Students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to service specific to the context of the hospitality industry
  • Integrate business concepts in hospitality management
  • Apply the skills relevant to the operational areas of hospitality management
  • Communicate effectively
  • Create a plan for personal leadership development

High-Quality Academics

The Center for Hospitality Management is the only center in the greater Philadelphia area that is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration. This means that out of approximately 253 hospitality programs in the United States, we're one of 50 that have demonstrated that we meet the highest standards of academic quality.

Experiential Learning

Built into the 4-year degree, students complete two 400-hour paid summer field experiences in different roles, companies, and segments of the hospitality industry. Students build on those work experiences through our nationally recognized 16-week cooperative education program, combining 40 hours per week of paid employment with a weekly seminar in leadership development. The combination of these distinct industry experiences enables students to consider which career path most suits their interests and talents. By senior year, every student has an exceptional resume along with an outstanding education.

Distinguished Accreditation

ACPHAWidener's Center for Hospitality Management holds accreditation from the prestigious Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA). This is a celebrated achievement as ACPHA has accredited less than 70 programs in hospitality management.
