Global & Away Opportunities, Hospitality Management
The Center for Hospitality Management prepares students to be leaders in today's multicultural economy by offering study abroad and domestic study away opportunities. International experiences give students a competitive edge by demonstrating the preparedness and ability to work with and understand diverse cultures.
Students have the opportunity to fully immerse in a new culture while taking a full semester of transferrable coursework at the following colleges and universities through an academic articulation agreement with Widener.
|Australia||International College of Management, Sydney|
|Ireland||Shannon College of Hotel Management|
|Dubai||The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management|
|Greece||The American College of Greece|
|Hong Kong||The Hong Kong Polytechnic University|
|Switzerland||Les Roches Swiss Hotel Association|
|England||Leeds Metropolitan University|
Various times throughout the year, students have the ability to learn outside of the classroom through international excursions with hospitality management faculty.
In conjunction with an elective course in international tourism, students participated in an eight-day, deep dive into Italian tourism. Participants enjoyed touring an Italian wedding venue, exploring the secrets to Italian cuisine through a day-long cooking experience, food and wine pairings, and a walking tour of Rome, the Vatican, and the Coliseum.
Banfi Vintners, renowned wine importers, provided Widener students and faculty with an eight-day, all expenses paid cultural experience touring the Tuscan valley.
Students have opportunities to attend national professional conferences in various cities throughout the U.S. In 2017, students traveled to New York City, Washington, D.C., and Orlando.
Various cultural U.S. immersion trips are also available allowing students to explore a different culture all the while tasting the foods, enjoying the venues, and serving the community.
