My Widener Experience
why did you decide to pursue a undergraduate degree in hospitality management at widener?
My father was in the hotel business, so I grew up in the industry. It was an easy decision. Widener was the perfect size, and the professors all had great experiences from the industry. Outside of academics, I played for the basketball team, which also gave me a great balance.
what is your favorite memory of widener?
My favorite memory was meeting my wife in our cooking class, and 23 years later we still talk about who prepared the best meal for our class. I still think it was me, but if you ask her she might give you a different answer.
My Professional Experience
what advice would you give a prospective student considering your major?
Get as much hands-on experience that you can. By fully participating in the co-op program, you’ll get molded for the future. I am a great believer that the more hands-on experience you seek out, the better off you will be when deciding which direction to go in the industry.
how has widener prepared you for life after college?
Widener gave me all the tools I needed to not only land my first job, but it also prepared for my second, my third, etc. The university gave me an opportunity by challenging me daily in the academics and teaching me to live on my own and build relationships with students that last a lifetime. Widener was a perfect environment for me.
