Human Sexuality and Social Work
The interdisciplinary program with Widener's Center for Social Work Education provides students with a clinical, licensable master of social work (MSW), as well as either a master of education (MEd) or doctor of philosophy (PhD) in Human Sexuality Studies. Students pursuing an interdisciplinary program with Widener’s Center for Social Work Education generally plan to work as therapists in nonprofit agencies, community organizations, or in private practice.
The MSW/MEd interdisciplinary program is a full-time, 3-year program and is offered in both on-campus and online formats. The MSW/PhD program takes 4 years to complete coursework full time, followed by dissertation studies for the completion of the PhD.
Human Sexuality and Clinical Psychology
The interdisciplinary program with the Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology offers students a combined doctor of psychology (PsyD) and a master of education (MEd) in Human Sexuality Studies. Students pursuing the PsyD/MEd interdisciplinary program generally plan to work as therapists in private practice, hospitals, and other mental health institutions.
The PsyD/MEd dual program takes 5 years to complete full time.
Human Sexuality and School Counseling Certificate
The counselor education/human sexuality studies interdisciplinary program with the Center for Education provides students with a Pennsylvania Department of Education Certificate in school counseling and a master of education (MEd) in Human Sexuality Studies. Students pursuing this interdisciplinary program generally plan to work as counselors in elementary schools (K–8), secondary schools (7–12), or community settings.
The school counseling certification/MEd program takes 3 years to complete full time.
