My Widener Experience
why did you decide to pursue a graduate degree in human sexuality education?
I wanted to teach full time as a college professor, and I knew I could conduct research and teach effectively to undergraduate and graduate students.
if you were to do your college experience at widener again, what wouldn't you change?
I would not change the format of the graduate classes. Small classes, appropriate classrooms, and dynamic professors at Widener are conducive to thoughtful discussions between the students and professor.
My Professional Experience
what advice would you give a prospective student considering your graduate program?
I cannot emphasize enough the doors that have been opened to me because of my PhD. My classes at Widener were unbelievably wonderful, and though my dissertation was more than a little stressful, it altogether was worth every penny and every minute! I can honestly say that I wouldn't be where I am today without my degree from Widener.
what do you like most about your current position?
I love to teach college students! They come with a willingness to learn, and as a college professor I have a lot of freedom to teach in creative ways. I am also writing the second edition of my college textbook, Sexual Health in a Diverse World. I would not have had the opportunity to write such a book without the support and guidance of my university. I had great role models in all of my professors!
