Clinical Psychology

Our American Psychological Association accredited doctoral program in psychology, the longest-running doctor of psychology program in the United States, is intended for the “scholar-practitioner."

Our PsyD program is accredited by the Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation of the American Psychological Association (750 First Street NE, Washington, DC 20002-4242, 202-336-5979).

In accordance with the model established by the National Council of Schools of Professional Psychology (NCSPP), you’ll apply theory to practice, develop skills in diagnostic assessment, intervention, and consultation and education and supervision.

Our doctoral program is noteworthy, not only for the variety of professional options that you can follow, but for our integrated internship. You may find yourself pursuing interests in cognitive/behavioral therapy, child psychology, cross-cultural and diversity psychology, family therapy, forensic psychology, group psychotherapy, health psychology, and psychoanalytic psychology.

Depending of your interests and career direction, we also offer certificate tracks in biofeedback, neuropsychology, and school psychology. If you already have a doctorate in psychology from an accredited university, and are thinking about entering the professional practice of psychology, then ask us about our respecialization post-doctoral program leading to a certificate of respecialization.

As a student and a member of the Widener community, you’ll also have opportunities to participate in many leadership initiatives and community outreach. For example, our students, under appropriate supervision, provide services to the surrounding community through our:
