In-demand Careers

Consulting and organizational psychology is projected to be the fastest growing job sector in the United States through 2022 as reported by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics and USA Today.

With the proliferation of integrated health care, psychologists with knowledge of health systems and health policy are also in demand. Widener's PsyD/MBA and PsyD/Health Care MBA program is one of only several in the country that train doctoral-level psychologists to enter the workforce straight out of graduate school as health care administrators or organizational consultants.

Organizational Development Services

Students gain hands-on supervised experience applying what they learn in the classroom through a one-year practicum or internship placement focusing on consulting and organizational psychology. One of the primary placement sites for students in this program is Widener’s Organizational Development Services.

In this context, students teach leadership skills, provide leadership and personality assessments, and use those personality assessments as the basis for productive leadership coaching engagements with undergraduates in Widener's various leadership programs, high-level university staff and academic administrators, and local business leaders.

Expert Faculty

Widener’s clinical psychology and business instructors include full-time faculty and adjunct practitioners working in the field. Many of our professors have a deep interest in research or have been working clinicians for more than 20 years, including adjunct faculty with successful organizational psychology careers such as Dr. Bill Haas. These faculty also allow for a fruitful connection between business and psychology among our graduates, a growing area of need in the field.
