• I have lost a loved one.
• I feel shy around people.
• I feel down/sad/depressed.
• I have difficulty with my family.
• I am confused about my interests and goals.
• I have questions about my sexual identity.
• I am concerned about my own or a friend’s alcohol/drug use.
• I am tense and anxious.
• I have difficulty with my boyfriend/girlfriend.
• I have trouble expressing my feelings.
Psychiatric Consultation and Medication Management

Consultation with a board certified psychiatrist is available by appointment.  Office hours are limited and there is a high demand for services.  In order to ensure high quality care and to adhere to the ethical guidelines for clinical practice, students availing themselves of psychiatric services are required to additionally meet with a staff therapist at the Counseling Center.

Group Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy groups are formed as needed.  The Widener University Counseling Center is always open to suggestions.  Please let us know if you would like a particular group formed.  For more information, contact the Center.

The Widener University Counseling Center staff seeks to extend assistance beyond the walls of the Center by outreach to students, faculty, and staff.  Workshops and presentations on a wide variety of topics are available for classroom and residence hall settings.

The Widener University Counseling Center staff is knowledgeable about other sources of help available both on and off campus and can provide such information to individuals according to need.
