Please take time to review the instructions on how to apply included below or visit the Application FAQ's for additional information.  Each graduate program offered at Widener University has different requirements for admission.  Visit your program of interest’s web site or contact the program directly to learn more about the application specifics such as required admission exams, test scores, writing samples, and deadlines.

Apply Online
You can apply to any graduate program online. Completing an application online is quick and convenient.
 
Completing an online application enables you to store your personal information under a private username and password you established, the freedom to complete the application at your own pace, transmit data securely over the internet, and track the progress of your application.  Additional directions and information are available to assist you while you complete an online application.

Paper applications can be made available upon request.


Save and Submit Your Application
Review all Online Application Instructions before you begin or submit your application.  The online application allows you to work on and complete your application in different sittings.  Please note that when you have completed your application and are ready to have it reviewed, you must hit the “submit” button on the bottom of page 5 of your application.  Once your online application has been successfully submitted and received, you will receive an automated email with a confirmation number.  Keep a copy of this email for your own records.

Applicants for Physical Therapy, Clinical Psychology, and Hospitality Management should send supporting documents directly to the program.

Try to make sure that each document is identified with your name and program of interest.  Files will be considered complete and ready to be reviewed by the committee once all of your supporting documents are received.
 
 

Complete Admission Exam
Many of the graduate programs require the completion of a standardized graduate or professional admission exams in order to be considered for admission.  Review your program’s requirements to learn more about what exams and scores are needed.

Application FAQ's
What are the deadlines to apply?
A majority of the programs operate on a “rolling” basis without any set deadlines.  However, please note that if your program of interest is on a “rolling” basis, you should still allow plenty of time to apply and get all of the necessary documents to the program.  A file will not be reviewed for an admissions decision if it is not complete.  Please contact your program for more information.


When can I apply for admission to a program?
Applications for a majority of the programs are accepted for the fall, spring, and summer semesters.  Please check with your individual program to check on the desired or required starting semester so that you can plan accordingly.

What is the tuition and cost breakdown?
Widener University is a private metropolitan university.  There are varying costs and fees related to each program.  The office of Enrollment Management Services has the most up to date information on costs, fees, and financial aide.

Does Widener University offer assistantships?
There are some assistantships offered throughout campus serving in many different capacities.  Many times programs of study offer assistantships to their students.  Contact your program for additional information.  Please note that assistantships are not guaranteed and are extremely competitive.

 
What are the requirements to apply?
The admission decisions are made by each specific program; therefore, the admission requirements vary among programs. Contact your program of interest if you have additional questions.

Can I take a graduate course without entering a degree program?
Many of the programs excluding the full time programs, Clinical Psychology and Physical Therapy, allow students to take and participate in a maximum of two courses as a non-matriculated student.  If you are interested in this option, please contact your program of interest.


When are the majority of the courses offered?
The part time programs offer their courses during the late afternoon and early evening hours such as 4:15 or 7:00 pm.  The Human Sexuality program offers their courses on Saturdays.  The full time programs, Clinical Psychology and Physical Therapy, operate with their courses being offered during the day on Monday-Fridays.

What does the application process entail for a dual or joint program?
A program specific application must be completed for the dual or joint program of interest.  Supporting documents such as test scores and transcripts must be sent to the program of interest.  Decisions are made by both programs individually by the admissions committee.  You must be accepted by both programs in order to pursue any of the dual/joint degrees.  If you are applying for the dual or joint programs offered with the Clinical Psychology or Human Sexuality programs, please be sure to adhere to the deadlines and requirements set by these programs first.

Where can I find housing information?
There is a limited amount of on-campus housing designated for graduate students.  Graduate students in the full time programs are given preference for the on-campus housing.  If you are interested in the on-campus housing, please contact Pam Millio at 610-499-4156 for the application and additional information.
In the Fall of 2008 Widener University opened the Hub Apartments located across the street from the campus.  The Hub Apartments offer studio, one bedroom, and two bedroom apartments which are available furnished or unfurnished.  More information is available at http://www.thehubatwidener.com/ or 610-872-8400.
Delaware County is home to many apartment complexes located less than ten miles away from campus as well.

Does Widener University offer distance learning courses over the web?
Currently Widener University does not offer any programs that include a majority of distance learning courses.  Some programs may include courses which operate on a hybrid or semi-hybrid format, but there isn’t the capability to complete an entire program via distance learning.  Some programs offer their academic programs to a cohort group which is hosted by a different institution such as Shippensburg University.  Contact your program of interest for more information.
