NEW STUDENT FALL ORIENTATION

Congratulations on your decision to attend Widener!  Our orientation programs are designed to help a new student adjust to academic, cultural, and social life while in college.  A new student is required to attend both of Widener's orientation programs (see below) to help in the adjustment process:

The Fall Orientation program includes dramatic programming designed to help bond incoming students to Widener and encourage them to feel part of the community. Fall Orientation will last three full days, focusing on different elements of collegiate life each day.

  • Move-in will take place on Labor Day. The first day will focus on both new students and parents, including Welcome Remarks from President Harris. The second day aims to help students become accustomed to campus surroundings and services through a variety of programs. The third day will focus on academic life, leading directly into the start of classes the following day.
  • The full Fall Orientation schedule will be posted in early August.  A new student will receive information on Fall Orientation in the mail over the summer prior to the fall semester.

New Student Fall Orientation is coordinated by the Office of Student Life.  The orientation process, led by members of the C.R.E.W. (Committee Responsible for Enhancing Widener), is made up of students from various academic majors. They are Widener upperclassmen who provide information, support, and guidance to incoming freshmen.

Incoming students also have the option of participating in the new Fall Pre-Orientation backpacking trip. This trip helps freshmen to get acquainted with others in their class, as well as with upperclassmen leaders, before the official start of classes in September.

New Student Summer Registration is held over (6) one-day sessions during the summer.  Upon confirmation of attendance to Widener through paying the deposit, a new student will receive information via e-mail on Summer Registration.  Each new student is required to attend (1) Summer Registration session.   New Students can register online for a Summer Registration date.
