PARENT'S GUIDE
Welcome Parents and Families!
Here at Widener University, we realize that the college selection process is often a family decision, so we have dedicated a site just for that reason. Throughout the page, you will notice some useful links to some areas that may be of interest to you as you are sending your child off into the wonderful world of college. Check out some helpful tips for parents from the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) website.
We’re sure that you want the best for your child and that applies to colleges as well. Did you know that Widener was ranked #47 in the nation in the Fall 2007 Washington Monthly college rankings for “best” schools? Widener moved up five spots from the 2006 rankings, with the survey asking the question: What are reasonable indicators of how a school is benefiting the country? For more facts about Widener, please access our Fact Sheet.
We invite you to come to the campus to experience what Widener has to offer in person. Our website outlines various visitation options, as well as detailed directions to campus.
In order to ensure that your child will graduate with job offers from which to choose, we offer an extensive cooperative education program, internships, field experiences, study abroad, and a Career Advising and Planning Services office. If you are the parent of a graduating high school senior, the College Board website offers suggestions to finalize the college admissions process.
What better way to find out about a university than to ask those who know best: the students and faculty. Make sure you check out our Student and Faculty Spotlight pages on our website.
Now you’re probably thinking to yourself that all sounds great, but how much is this going to cost me? A full listing of our tuition and fees is online. Please note that Widener offers a range of Academic Awards, solely based on merit, and there is no separate application for these awards. More than 90% of Widener’s students receive merit and/or financial aid. Need-based aid is based on the results of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
We hope this site is useful to you, but please feel free to contact a member of the Admissions Staff should you have any questions.
