RESIDENCE LIFE & HOUSING

All full-time undergraduate day students are guaranteed University housing facilities for all four years of their stay at Widener. In fact, unless they meet commuter status criteria, all full-time undergraduate students live in University housing.

  • To qualify for commuter status, a student must live at home with parent(s) or legal guardian(s) and within 25 miles from the University or from his/her co-op, internship, or student teaching location.
  • Graduate Students:  There is limited on-campus graduate housing available.  If interested, please contact Pam Millio at 610-499-4156

Widener has the traditional two-person rooms in most halls, with Resident Assistants in every residence hall.  However, a variety of housing options are available to suit your needs, including Special Interest Housing, suite style, and apartment style to name a few.  Widener is located in a quiet, residential area with 24-hour campus security, card access residence halls, and escort and shuttle services.

The Office of Residence Life
The Office of Residence Life  is charged with maintaining the quality of life for our resident students. In addition to being the pickup and drop-off point for keys and residency forms, the office also oversees Resident Assistants, special events, and other on-campus activities.

Metropolitan Hall, a brand new residence hall, opened in September 2006. Located on the corner of 17th and Melrose Avenue, Metropolitan Hall features shared kitchen and lounge areas, flexible room set-ups, and caters to the needs of upper classmen.  A pathway running through the courtyard provides walking access to the new Wellness Center attached to the Schwartz Athletic Center.
