TRANSFER STUDENTS
Transfer students at Widener University are given the same consideration for financial aid and campus housing as all other undergraduate applicants. Accounting for 20 percent of our new students each year, Widener recognizes the valuable role that transfer students play in making our student body a vibrant one.
We welcome your interest in Widener University and we are confident that you can reach higher and go further by choosing Widener University.
Policies
In order to be considered for admission as a transfer student at Widener University, students must be in good academic, disciplinary, and financial standing.
Students must have at least a 2.00 cumulative GPA (3.00 for Nursing) and a minimum of 12 transferable credits for admission consideration. If a student has attended multiple institutions, the admission decision will be based on an average GPA from all institutions.
Admission decisions are generally made during the semester prior to the anticipated start term. Therefore, students are admitted before their final semester grades are available. It is the expectation that students will submit their final transcript and will successfully complete their current coursework. If the official final transcript does not demonstrate successful completion, the Office of Admissions will revoke the offer of admission.
Students who already have a Bachelor's degree and are seeking a second Bachelor's degree at Widener are considered transfer students and should follow the transfer process.
Transfer Credit
Students must earn a grade of C or higher in order for credit to be transferred into Widener. Transfer students must complete 50 percent of their major courses at Widener, and a maximum of 64 credits may be transferred from a two-year college.
A transfer credit evaluation will be completed at time of application and included with the acceptance packet. Changes may be made to this evaluation after meeting with an academic advisor. If a student wants to challenge a credit evaluation, the student should be prepared to present the course syllabus to his/her academic advisor.
Widener generally accepts credits from an accredited college or university that correspond and are useable in the Widener curriculum to which the student has applied.
If you have taken coursework at Delaware County Community College, please refer to the listing of DCCC transfer course equivalencies at Widener.
Scholarships
All transfer students are reviewed for merit scholarships. Awards are based on a student's cumulative grade point average and major. The scholarship amounts range from $4,000-$12,000 per year.
A minimum of 12 transferable credits are required for scholarship consideration. Second degree candidates and part-time students are not eligible for academic scholarship.
For the scholarship to be renewed each year, you must achieve a minimum of 24 credits per academic year and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.

Transfer Agreements
A successful transfer experience is the result of careful planning. It is highly recommended that you consult your transfer office at the Community or Junior College you are attending.
Listed here you will find some established transfer agreements which include a course by course transfer guide. Follow this closely and consult with your transfer office. If you do, your transfer experience will be successful.
We are constantly working with Community and Junior Colleges to create and update agreements. Check this site periodically to see if one has been established with your school and major.
