Meet the Admissions Staff

Jason Britton, Director of Admissions

Freshman Admissions

Jason Britton

I joined the Widener team in the summer of 2005. My past experience in both higher education and private business provides me with an open perspective that I apply to the Widener Admissions process.

Having the opportunity to work with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the Widener community keeps me informed about the latest interests and trends of today's college student.

Courtney Kelly

I joined the undergraduate admissions team at Widener University in September 2005, bringing with me five years of prior professional admissions experience. Having graduated from a small undergraduate institution, I recognize the benefits of being "a name, not a number." I strongly believe that Widener's personal approach to education is one where a student will thrive both in and out of the classroom.

In my role as an admissions professional, I enjoy counseling prospective students through the college search process and helping them to determine if Widener University will be a place where they can be a successful college student.

I attended Widener as an undergraduate student, and enjoyed it so much that I began working in the Admissions Office after graduation. Years later, I'm still here because of the friendly atmosphere at Widener and that close-knit community feel that is so great to find in a university. It's a small school with all of the opportunities of a larger one. In 2009, I graduated from Widener again by earning my master's degree in educational counseling.

Widener can help a wide array of students reach their full potential.  Whether you need a strong foundation in a pre-professional program, want to explore the humanities, or have a specific goal, a Widener education can comprehensively prepare you for that next step in life. I chose to work at Widener because of the opportunities that the university affords its students, particularly when it comes to hands-on experience, and service learning. Widener has proven to be a friendly and inviting place to live and learn.

I joined Widener University in the fall of 2015 and I am excited to be a part of the Widener Pride. Having attended a smaller university I can directly relate to the close-knit environment that Widener has. Widener does an excellent job in preparing students to become successful leaders by combining great academics and stellar civic engagement. My goal is to help students and families understand the value of a close-knit college environment, strong academics, and civic engagement. The combination of these three aspects and the numerous opportunities Widener has to offer should be enough reason for any student to #ChooseWidener.

I encourage you to set up a visit and come see the campus for yourself. You can sit in on a class, talk to professors, talk to students, and come see what it is like to be a part of Widener University. Check out the different ways you can visit right here!
