Meet the Admissions Staff

Courtney Kelly, Executive Director of Admissions

Courtney Kelly

I joined the undergraduate admissions team at Widener University in September 2005, bringing with me five years of prior professional admissions experience. Having graduated from a small undergraduate institution, I recognize the benefits of being "a name, not a number." I strongly believe that Widener's personal approach to education is one where a student will thrive both in and out of the classroom.

In my role as an admissions professional, I enjoy counseling prospective students through the college search process and helping them to determine if Widener University will be a place where they can be a successful college student.

I joined the Widener team in the summer of 2005. My past experience in both higher education and private business provides me with an open perspective that I apply to the Widener Admissions process.

Having the opportunity to work with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the Widener community keeps me informed about the latest interests and trends of today's college student.

I attended Widener as an undergraduate student, and enjoyed it so much that I began working in the Admissions Office after graduation. Years later, I'm still here because of the friendly atmosphere at Widener and that close-knit community feel that is so great to find in a university. It's a small school with all of the opportunities of a larger one. In 2009, I graduated from Widener again by earning my master's degree in educational counseling.

I joined the Admissions team here at Widener University in the fall of 2014 coming with more than 5 years of experience in higher education. I understand the importance of mastering my own performance in order to have a positive impact on each individual student throughout their educational journey and beyond. My previous experiences as a student of color who attended diverse institutions gives me a genuine connection with today's underrepresented student populations ensuring that the necessary guidance, tools, and resources to be successful are available.

Widener's strong commitment to diversity makes my role as Multicultural Recruiter all the more meaningful and rewarding.

With more than 60 majors to choose from and over 80 clubs and organizations to join, there’s something for everyone. Fun fact – Widener is home to an observatory with a telescope. During the fall and spring semesters public telescope viewing sessions are offered every Monday at twilight and star-gazing the first Friday evening of the month.
