About the Permanent Collection

The permanent University collection includes the impressive Alfred O. Deshong Collection of 19th and 20th century American and European paintings and 18th and 19th century Asian art. Also represented in the University Collection are paintings by American Impressionists Edward Redfield, Robert Spencer, George L. Noyes and others.

Additional works include a collection of pre-Columbian pottery from Peru. Selections from the University's permanent collections are displayed continuously throughout the year. In addition, a series of exhibitions of contemporary art is shown from September through May.

The Art Gallery plays an integral part in community enrichment. Included in the thousands of people who visit the gallery yearly are art school classes, scout troops, senior citizens as well as the University's own students, faculty and administrators.
