At Widener, students discover the expressive power of text in a number of ways.
Courses offered through the College of Arts & Sciences provide students with advanced instruction in several genres of writing, ranging from fiction and plays to humor and poetry.
Community members can also participate in a number of campus organizations that nurture individual expression through the written word. Student-run journals such as Widener Ink and The Blue Route publish student work. The English Club, a student-run group, stages open mics in various campus locations throughout the academic year.
For more professional work, the College of Arts & Sciences brings a notable writer to campus every semester for the creative writing department's Distinguished Writers Series. Past honorees include George Saunders, Suzette Mayr and Dan Chaon.
